Overview
Available with a fixed or detachable roof, the McLaren 600LT Coupe/Spider sat at the top of the manufacturer’s series of Sports models when it emerged in October 2018. It became the third model with the ‘LT’ designation, standing for ‘longtail’, which signified that the body had been extended backwards by a few inches. Aerodynamic improvements were centre-stage, including new side sills, and a fixed rear spoiler gave the car extra downforce. Weight reduction measures include a carbon fibre monocoque shell which, along with other McLaren 600LT Coupe/Spider parts made from the same material, saved nearly 100kg over the 570S. The 600LT Coupe/Spider gets its name from the power output of the 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine, which can also produce a maximum of 457lb/ft (620Nm) of torque. There is also a Spider derivative of the car, with a folding hard-top roof, which doesn’t add any extra weight to the car.
