The QuickSilver exhaust system for the McLaren P1 offers a significant upgrade in both performance and sound. This exhaust system is designed with lightweight materials, replacing both the primary and secondary catalysts to ensure a more efficient flow. This design not only improves throttle response but also enhances the exhaust note, delivering a crisper, richer sound throughout the rev range.
One of the standout features of the QuickSilver exhaust is the Volcanic Black Ceramic Coat. This advanced coating reduces temperatures at the manifold by over 110 degrees Celsius, leading to a decrease of more than 27.5 degrees Celsius in under-bonnet temperatures. The ceramic coating, initially developed for the defence and nuclear industries, is extremely durable and stone chip resistant. It provides a tough, hard-wearing shell that serves as a highly effective corrosion barrier while also contributing to a unique aesthetic finish.
The exhaust system is made from T304 stainless steel, known for its durability and performance. The key benefits of this system include a distinctive exhaust sound, improved throttle response, and a reduction in overall vehicle weight, which enhances performance in all areas.
