Overview
The third addition to McLaren's Ultimate Range alongside the legendary F1 and P1, the McLaren Senna has huge boots to fill in terms of performance - let alone living up to the legend carved out by it's namesake, the utterly singular Ayrton Senna.
The name was chosen to honour the memory of Ayrton, and celebrate the wild success that he shared with the McLaren Formula One Team between the 1988 and 1993 seasons. Senna himself won three F1 World Driver's Championship titles during this period, achieving 35 race wins and propelling the McLaren F1 team to four consecutive World Constructor's Championships.
The brief for the car was to achieve the fastest possible lap times, thus an emphasis on light weight and effective aerodynamic components was the best avenue. Utilising a modified version of the 720S's carbon fibre monocoque and twin-turbocharged V8, the Senna has a dry weight of 1,198kg and a power output of 800PS. Combined with a gigantic double element rear wing (which doubles as an airbrake), a double element diffuser, a roof scoop and various other louvres, intakes and canards around the car - the Senna is nigh on unparalleled in terms of outright track performance.
