Overview
Mercedes has had a flagship model since it first launched a model called the ‘Ponton’ in 1954. But the S-Class was first used as a model classification in 1972, and over subsequent years, the range of engines and chassis set-ups changed and as considerably widened. As each generation has come along, Mercedes has had a simple aim - to create the best car in the world. Consequently, technological advances are always debuted on this model before filtering down the range. In half a century, a lot of rivals have tried to get up to the lofty position occupied by the S Class, but its big advantage is that it was first developed as a long-wheelbase car, with the shorter version following on, whereas many of its rivals started out small and were stretched to make more room inside. Four engines, including just one diesel, were put into the bay of this S Class, two in-line six-cylinder plants for the lower spec variants, with the first AMG model, the S63, getting the four-litre V8 out of the AMG GT, and the S65 housing a six-litre V12, whose 621bhp puts its rivals in the shade. A seven-speed auto box is used in the S65, but elsewhere a nine-speed auto transmission is standard, and is tuned for extra sportiness in the AMG variants.
Impressive modern trickery on the interior includes an all-LED light system. Upgrading or individualising a car on which the original equipment list is so extensive demands some careful choices. Here at Scuderia Car Parts, we have used our extensive knowledge of tuning and performance upgrades to hand-pick only the options for S Class Coupe aftermarket parts which have the most effect and add to the car’s capabilities. They include a Brabus engine upgrade, and a set of black platinum wheels, also from Brabus. Contact us if you need more information about either of these choices, and we will happily fill in more details of what they involve, so you can be sure that your investment in Mercedes aftermarket parts is a wise one.
