Overview
Revealed to the world in 2002, the Cayenne laid the blueprint for performance SUVs from its inception. It had the honour of being the first V8 powered Porsche product since the retirement of the 928 in 1995, as well as being the first off road production vehicle from Porsche since their Super & Junior tractors of the 50’s and the first ever 4 door production Porsche.
Following on from the success of the original, and the second generation in 2009, the 9Y0 chassis Cayenne debuted in 2017. Based on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform; shared with the Lamborghini Urus, Audi Q8 and Bentley Bentayga amongst others. The third generation Cayenne also saw the debut of the Cayenne Coupe in 2019, the first “coupe” style SUV offered in the Cayenne range.
This is the first generation of the Cayenne to feature exclusively turbocharged engines, with single turbos in the Base car and Base E-Hybrid car. Engines range from 335hp in the aforementioned base car, up to 690hp in the 4.0L twin turbocharged V8, PHEV Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid facelift.
