Belgian Luc Donckerwolke has had a hand in designing many of the VW Group's most important cars, from the Skoda Fabia to the most exotic Lamborghinis. But the Murcielago, VW's first new Lamborghini model launched after it had taken them over, is probably the one he'll bore his grandkids rigid telling them about. Low-slung, with the roof no higher than four feet off the ground at its highest point, the Murcielago was the latest car to use an in-house developed V12 engine which could trace its development right back to when Lamborghini first diversified from making tractors into building sports cars in the 1960s. The six-speed manual or optional electronically-controlled auto gearbox channels the power through all four wheels, with usually a 30/70 front/rear split.

The 6.2-litre engine had no turbo assistance, yet could produce 572bhp, and accelerate the Murcielago from 0 to 62mph in 3.8 seconds. Car and Driver reviewer John Phillips put it well when he wrote: "Few things in life so reliably induce giddiness as a couple of zero-to-80-mph blasts in a MurciŽlago, a process, by the way, that requires but a third of the available gears." A Roadster edition with a manually-attached soft roof came out in 2004, but had a warning attached to it that the car was primarily meant to be driven with the top open! Donckerwolke says he took the B-2 stealth bomber plane as his inspiration for the design of the Roadster's rear pillars and engine cover. A limited-edition run Murcielago came out in 2003 to mark Lamborghini's 40th anniversary, and featured several unique upgrades. The Murcielago stayed in production until 2010, signing off with a limited-run of SV (SuperVeloce) models which cut 220lbs off the car's weight through more extensive use of carbon fibre. The swansong was muted, however, as only half the planned production run of the final model were ever made, before the Murcielago made way for the Aventador.

Excellent service and incredibly fast delivery! I recently purchased an LH window regulator from Scuderia Car Parts and had a great experience. The ordering process was easy, and I was very impressed with how quickly they processed and shipped my order. I’m located in Canada, and the part was sent via express delivery and arrived much faster than I expected. Everything was handled efficiently from purchase to delivery. Very happy with the service and overall experience. I would definitely order from Scuderia Car Parts again and highly recommend them, especially if you’re looking for genuine or hard-to-find car parts with fast international shipping.

I enjoy buying quality parts for my luxury car, there is a peace of mind that I get from purchasing through Scuderia. Some parts are sourced from other countries and Scuderia does a good job in my opinion to get the part from suppliers to me as quickly as they can.
